Position Overview
This senior software engineer role is a full‑time expatriate assignment in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for approximately 2 to 3 years. The position requires a U.S. citizen with a Secret level clearance and will be 100% onsite in the UAE. It may involve travel to customer locations across the UAE and occasional overnight or weekend integration and test activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, and test software features supporting mission‑critical air and missile defense capabilities.
- Break down program roadmap features into actionable tasks and deliver solutions in an Agile environment.
- Modernize and maintain software applications by integrating commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) and open‑source updates, migrating legacy capabilities into Lockheed Martin’s Software Factory CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop unit tests and automated testing capabilities to improve software quality, reliability, and deployment efficiency.
- Participate in software integration activities, including baseline merges, defect resolution, peer reviews, and troubleshooting throughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with systems, software, cybersecurity, and integration teams to define technical solutions, resolve complex engineering challenges, and support evolving software architecture.
- Contribute to technical discussions, share best practices, and help drive continuous improvement across the Agile development team.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant work experience (advanced degree may substitute for 2 years).
- Experience with Java and/or Python.
- Front‑end framework development experience using Angular, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
- Experience with Docker, REST APIs, or SOAP.
- Experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret clearance.
Desired Skills
- Experience in Agile methodologies and tools.
- Experience with UI/UX test frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, or Jest.
- Full‑stack engineering experience.
- Exposure to GitLab CI/CD, Helm, Kubernetes, gRPC, Python, Flask.
- Exposure to UI/UX design tools such as Mockflow, UXPin, Axure.
- Experience with RHEL and Windows.
- Experience with services, microservices, software factories, cloud‑native, and service‑oriented architectures.
- Hands‑on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- Cybersecurity knowledge for software products (authentication, data encryption, application STIGs) and secure development.
Security Clearance
This position requires a U.S. government security clearance at the Secret level. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
