Assistant Manager - Production

We are hiring an Assistant Manager - Production for one of our clients, a leading metal and steel manufacturing company based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. About Our Client

Key Responsibilities

• Operational areas include the Re-heat Furnace, Mill Rolling Processes, and Finishing End. The plant operates on a 24-hour, 7-day, 3-shift operational basis. Customers expect high-quality service, including accurate, timely deliveries and exceptional product quality.
• Facilitate safe processes and work practices.
• Facilitate solutions to critical technical, operational, scheduling, and resource-related issues to ensure maximum plant utilization and contribution.
• Provide professional advice and support to all levels of the business on Rolling and Finishing End process-related issues to ensure that the production capability of the business is optimized.
• Significantly and proactively contribute to, advise on, and support the HSM Business Development and Strategic Planning processes.
• Effectively plan plant, departmental, and individual objectives derived from the company’s short-term and long-term business objectives.
• Ensure the effective achievement of Rolling and Finishing Processes functional objectives through leadership of production, maintenance, and associated functions by setting departmental and individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, and providing formal and informal feedback and appraisals to ensure the highest level of performance is achieved.
• Support the Manager in preparing and managing annual budgets and cost management activities by utilizing appropriate information and identifying potential improvements within the areas of responsibility.
• Support the Manager in preparing and managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets for the assigned area of responsibility.
• Support the Manager in collaborating with various departments to develop a deep understanding of customer expectations, relationships, alliances, and service levels.
• Support the Manager in collaborating with departments to implement effective Asset Management, Maintenance, and Shutdown strategies and activities.
• Support the Manager in ensuring that resources are provided according to the defined organizational structure and are optimally utilized, with effective communication maintained across all levels.
• Ensure safety across all processes and operational situations. Develop a strong safety culture, update or create work instructions, ensure the safety of personnel and equipment within the area of responsibility, and establish risk assessments when required.
• Ensure that areas under responsibility are managed in accordance with QA procedures and instructions, updating them whenever required.
• Support the Manager in directing the planning and allocation of physical and human resources, and oversee the implementation of appropriate processes, controls, and instructions within Rolling Processes to ensure all activities are carried out efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Support the Manager in ensuring effective coordination of departmental activities, external suppliers, and other external agencies to achieve departmental objectives.
• Personally resolve critical technical and production issues in coordination with the Manager to minimize production downtime.
• Lead and promote technical development of plant equipment and processes to ensure continuous improvement in production and operational performance within the area of responsibility, in coordination with the Manager.
• Ensure the implementation and adherence to a robust quality management system to ensure that the final product meets customer expectations and non-conformances are minimized.
• Support the Manager in directing the implementation of approaches for Rolling Processes, Finishing End Processes, and equipment maintenance to ensure maximum plant availability within the area of responsibility.
• Support the Manager in establishing a maintenance system to capture all equipment-related costs and ensure the proper implementation of predictive and preventive maintenance activities within the area of responsibility.
• Support the Manager in recommending a capital plan for Rolling and Finishing Processes that defines Emirates Steel’s anticipated capital expenditure requirements, ensures the company has the physical capability to achieve its strategic objectives, and evaluates the impact of capital expenditure on cash flows within the area of responsibility.
• Support the Manager in directing the ongoing review of the physical condition of all Emirates Steel assets within Rolling and Finishing Processes to ensure that assets remain in suitable condition to support organizational strategic objectives and comply with relevant legislation within the area of responsibility.
  

Requirements

• Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience, preferably in the steel industry or a Section Mill Steel Plant
• Strong experience in steel manufacturing operations
• Strong leadership and planning skills
• Ability to manage production processes efficiently
• Strong understanding of quality, safety, and operational compliance
• Ability to ensure efficiency, product quality, and safety standards are consistently maintained
