Description:

Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to support its billing operations team. The successful candidate will manage monthly billing processes, prepare accurate client invoices, and ensure compliance with firm and client billing requirements.

This role is ideal for professionals with experience in legal billing, electronic invoicing, and client account management. The Billing Specialist will collaborate with attorneys, clients, and internal teams to resolve billing inquiries, maintain accuracy, and provide excellent service throughout the billing cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the monthly client billing process, including preparing, reviewing, and finalizing invoices for assigned attorneys.

• Review and edit monthly proformas based on billing attorney instructions.

• Modify time and cost entries, process write-offs and write-downs, and complete billing adjustments.

• Verify billing accuracy and ensure compliance with client billing guidelines.

• Prepare supporting documentation and obtain required approvals before invoice submission.

• Distribute invoices through mail, email, eBillingHub, and other electronic billing platforms.

• Set up matters for electronic billing within vendor systems and firm billing platforms.

• Research and resolve billing inquiries, disputes, and invoice discrepancies.

• Coordinate rejected invoice appeals and follow up on billing issues.

• Provide client accruals, billing updates, and budget information when required.

• Maintain confidentiality while communicating with attorneys, clients, and internal teams.

• Support Accounts Receivable, trust accounting, rate management, and client account setup activities.

• Prepare customized billing reports and manage monthly billing workload reports.

Requirements:

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

• 2+ years of prior experience in legal billing and client invoicing.

• Experience with legal billing systems such as Elite 3E, Paperless Proforma, or similar platforms.

• Knowledge of electronic billing processes and third-party e-billing vendors.

• Experience with platforms such as Legal Tracker, TyMetrix 360, CounselLink, or similar systems is preferred.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

• Strong knowledge of:

• Legal billing procedures and invoice management.

• Electronic billing systems and client billing requirements.

• Financial reporting, reconciliation, and billing accuracy.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Flexibility to work overtime or weekends when required.
