JOB PURPOSE

The Staff Nurse coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The Staff Nurse supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family and promotes the mission, vision and values of SSMC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform comprehensive patient assessment and analysis to determine nursing diagnoses and imperatives.
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care in partnership with patients, families and the health‑care team.
• Apply evidence‑based nursing practices and interventions, including treatment, medication administration and procedural protocols.
• Document and communicate all aspects of care delivery and patient status in the health record.
• Deliver health education and promote healthy lifestyles, using teach‑back and other strategies.
• Evaluate progress toward outcomes and revise nursing plans accordingly.
• Integrate current evidence and research into practice and participate in quality‑improvement projects.
• Demonstrate leadership, supervise junior staff and students, and act as a role model for professional practice.
• Maintain compliance with professional codes of conduct, ethical principles, and the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and UAE.
• Participate in shared decision‑making, emergency response and environmental health initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 2 years' clinical experience post‑qualification in an appropriate setting (waived for graduates of UAE nursing colleges/universities after internship completion).
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent with valid registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia.
• Valid/current national nursing license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Desirable: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent.
