AMI Smart Gas Meter Installation Operation & Maintenance Technician  

Job Summary  

We are seeking experienced AMI Smart Gas Meter Operation & Maintenance Technicians to 

perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, move-in (new gas 

connection) and move-out (gas disconnection) activities for Residential and Commercial 

Natural Gas Distribution Systems. The ideal candidate should possess strong mechanical and 

basic electrical knowledge of gas distribution systems, AMI smart metering infrastructure, 

gas detection systems and field troubleshooting while ensuring compliance with ADNOC, 

HSE, QA/QC and utility standards.  

Key Responsibilities  

Operation & Maintenance  

∙ Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of AMI Smart Gas Meters.  

∙ Respond to customer complaints and emergency maintenance calls.  

∙ Perform routine inspections and functional checks of gas metering systems.  

∙ Verify meter performance, gas leakage and overall system integrity.  

Move-In (New Gas Connection) 

∙ Carry out move-in activities by restoring gas supply for new occupants.  

∙ Verify gas meter condition and functionality before gas restoration.  

∙ Inspect isolation valves, regulators, flexible hose connections, fittings and associated 

gas components.  

∙ Perform leak testing, pressure verification and safety inspections.  

∙ Restore gas supply after completing all safety checks and required documentation.  

Move-Out (Gas Disconnection) 

∙ Perform safe gas isolation and service disconnection.  

∙ Record final meter readings.  

∙ Secure and seal gas services according to company procedures.  

∙ Complete all required documentation and system updates.  

AMI Communication Troubleshooting  

∙ Troubleshoot non-communicating AMI Smart Gas Meters.  

∙ Check communication status through the Head-End System (HES).  

∙ Verify SIM status, APN configuration, firmware, RSSI, RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, and  

network connectivity.  

∙ Coordinate with telecom providers for communication-related issues.  

∙ Restore communication through on-site diagnostics and corrective actions.  

Mechanical Maintenance  

Hands-on experience with:  

∙ Natural gas pipelines (Steel & PE) 

∙ Isolation valves  

∙ Ball valves  

∙ Solenoid valves  

∙ Pressure regulators  

∙ Flexible hose pipes  

∙ Copper tubing  

∙ Reducers  

∙ Compression fittings  

∙ Threaded fittings  

∙ Pressure gases  

∙ Meter manifolds  

∙ Pipe supports and brackets  

Electrical Maintenance  

∙ Basic electrical wiring associated with gas metering systems.  

∙ Gas detection panel maintenance.  

∙ Gas detector and sensor troubleshooting.  

∙ Solenoid valve wiring and testing.  

∙ Alarm circuit verification.  

∙ Power supply checks.  

∙ Cable termination and continuity testing.
