Head of Finance (UAE National)

Mark Williams is partnering with a leading organisation based in Abu Dhabi to appoint an experienced and commercially minded Head of Finance.


This is a unique opportunity to build the finance operating model from the ground up, implementing best-in-class financial controls, governance frameworks, reporting processes, and systems that will support the organisation's long-term strategic objectives.
Reporting to the Finance Director the successful candidate will act as a business partner to senior leadership providing financial insight that supports informed decision-making and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and deliver the organisation's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives
• Build and implement finance policies, procedures, governance frameworks and internal controls for a newly established entity
• Provide strategic financial advice and commercial insight to the executive leadership team
• Continuous improvement across finance operations, ensuring efficiency, scalability and best practice
• Lead the annual budgeting process together with rolling forecasts and long-term financial planning
• Produce robust financial models and scenario analysis to support strategic initiatives
• Deliver insightful variance analysis, identifying trends, risks and opportunities while recommending corrective actions
• Manage treasury activities including liquidity planning, cash flow forecasting and working capital optimisation.
• Develop strategies to improve cash visibility, optimise capital structure and minimise financial risk
• Partner closely with operational and commercial leaders, providing financial analysis to support key business decisions.
• Promote financial awareness across the organisation and strengthen collaboration between finance and operational teams.
• Oversee all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, integrity and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Develop robust financial reporting frameworks that deliver timely, meaningful management information.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure the integrity of financial data across the organisation.
• Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for senior management and key stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate the annual audit process.
• Ensure audit requirements are completed efficiently with statutory deadlines.
• Strengthen financial controls and proactively identify and mitigate financial risks.
• Lead finance transformation initiatives and AI, including ERP optimisation and process automation.


Candidate Profile
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent – Preferred
• 10+ years' experience across finance and accounting, including at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership position.
• Experience establishing finance functions, policies and controls within a rapidly growing organisation is highly desirable.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and support strategic decision-making.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
• Extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial planning & analysis.
• Excellent understanding of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax regulations.
• Treasury, cash flow and working capital management expertise.
• Experience implementing or optimising ERP systems and leading finance transformation initiatives.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and financial modelling capabilities..
• Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
