We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Consultant - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) to join our esteemed healthcare team. This role is critical in delivering advanced, life‑saving care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. The Consultant will lead clinical decision‑making, oversee complex patient management, and contribute to the continuous improvement of PICU protocols and outcomes. With over 5 years of specialized experience in pediatric critical care, the ideal candidate will bring a deep commitment to patient safety, family‑centered care, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of pediatric intensive care through clinical excellence, innovation, and mentorship of junior medical staff and trainees. The Consultant will also engage in quality improvement initiatives, research, and educational activities to advance the standard of care within the unit and across the health system.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical leadership in the management of critically ill pediatric patients across all age groups, from neonates to adolescents.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with complex medical conditions, including respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, post‑operative care, and multi‑organ dysfunction.
• Lead and participate in daily rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and emergency response teams to ensure timely, coordinated care.
• Mentor and supervise residents, fellows, and junior medical staff in clinical decision‑making, procedural skills, and ethical patient management.
• Collaborate with nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, nutrition, and other allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Champion patient and family‑centered care by maintaining clear, compassionate communication and involving families in care planning.
• Lead or contribute to quality improvement projects, clinical audits, and safety initiatives to enhance PICU performance and reduce adverse events.
• Participate in research, data collection, and publication of outcomes related to pediatric critical care.
• Stay current with evolving guidelines, technologies, and best practices in PICU care through continuous professional development.
• Serve as a key advisor in the development and revision of PICU protocols, policies, and emergency preparedness plans.

Requirements

• Board certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care (or equivalent international qualification).
• Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on clinical experience in a high‑acuity Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
• Proven expertise in advanced life support techniques, including mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, ECMO support, and invasive procedures.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to manage high‑pressure clinical environments.
• Experience in teaching, training, and supervising medical trainees in a clinical setting.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex medical information clearly to patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Proficiency in electronic health record systems and clinical data management tools.
• Commitment to evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, and patient safety.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call duties and emergency response as required.
