Operations Cost & Performance Manager

Role Overview

The Operations Cost & Performance Manager is a key role within the Logistics team, responsible for the financial and performance control of Mumzworld's operations and logistics function.

The role owns cost analysis and optimisation, month-end financial control, operational KPI management, capacity and budget planning, and vendor cost strategy. Most importantly, it turns analysis into implemented savings and measurable performance improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

Cost Analysis & Optimisation: Analyse logistics and operations costs to understand key cost drivers such as fuel, materials, and manpower, as well as variances and inefficiencies. Identify and quantify savings and efficiency opportunities, and present them as clear business cases.

Optimisation & Automation Projects: Lead or steer projects arising from cost analysis through to implementation. This includes automation initiatives that improve cost tracking, reporting accuracy, visibility, and efficiency.

Financial Control: Prepare and coordinate month-end cost accruals for operations, ensuring costs are captured accurately and in the correct period.

Performance Management: Prepare monthly operations KPIs against targets, analyse variances, and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate the design and disbursement of performance-based spot incentives with operations managers.

Manpower & Capacity Planning: Calculate manpower requirements across departments, particularly for peak periods, balancing volume requirements against cost.

Vendor Strategy & Risk Management: Track courier loads and volumes to balance business-continuity risk against cost. Analyse and negotiate proposed costs for new vendors, and coordinate contract finalisation with Legal and relevant departments.

Budget Setting: Model and analyse budgets for new projects, expansions, and operational initiatives, using scope and cost-trend analysis to guide budget requirements.

How Success Is Measured

Savings Delivered: I dentified savings are quantified and delivered, and optimisation projects are implemented on plan.

Financial Accuracy: Month-end accruals are accurate, complete, and on time.

Performance Visibility: The monthly KPI scorecard is delivered on time with variance commentary, and corrective actions are tracked to closure.

Balanced Planning: Manpower plans balance peak-volume requirements with cost, and vendor dependency risk is reduced while meeting cost objectives.

Budget Quality: Budgets for new initiatives are modelled accurately and approved without material rework.

What You'll Need

Experience

T he Foundation: 5–7 years of experience in operations or logistics cost control, operations finance, or operational excellence, including some team or project leadership.

The Background: Experience in e-commerce, last-mile delivery, or warehouse operations is preferred.

The Track Record: Proven ability to convert analysis into implemented initiatives, working across operations, finance, and vendors. Strong negotiation and vendor-management capability.

Qualification

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.

Analytical & Technical Capability: Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, including advanced Excel, and comfort with cost accounting concepts such as accruals and variance analysis. Experience with cost-tracking automation or BI tools, and working knowledge of ERP systems such as NetSuite, are a plus.
