Business Analyst (Consumer Lending)

Role Summary

We are hiring a Business Analyst who owns outcomes, not tickets. This person will independently carry a defined set of business KPIs across growth, operations, and financial performance — diagnosing why numbers move, designing the interventions that move them, and driving those interventions through Product, Risk, Growth, Operations, Collections, and Finance until they land. You will pull your own data, build your own analysis, form your own point of view, and defend it in front of senior leadership. When a metric underperforms, you are the person expected to have the answer — and the proposal.

Responsibilities

• Write your own SQL to extract, join, and validate data from lending core, payment, CRM, and behavioural event sources — without waiting in a queue for someone else to pull it.

• Build and maintain the metric trees behind your KPIs, decomposing headline numbers into the operational drivers that actually move them.

• Investigate performance anomalies end-to-end: isolate whether a movement is driven by mix, policy, product change, seasonality, upstream funnel, or data quality — and prove which.

• Design and maintain dashboards and recurring reporting that leadership can act on directly.

• Convert analysis into concrete, quantified proposals: what to change, expected impact in AED, implementation cost, risk trade-off, and how success will be measured.

• Size opportunities before they are built and validate them after they ship — including designing champion/challenger A/B tests with downstream risk quality (FPD, DPD) as a primary readout, not just conversion.

• Drive adopted proposals through to implementation with Product, Risk, Engineering, and Operations. Follow-through is part of the job, not a hand-off.

• Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership in a decision-ready format.

• Build and maintain unit economics models for lending products: interest income, fee income, cost of funds, expected credit loss, acquisition cost, servicing and collections cost.

• Understand and be able to explain how pricing, tenor, limit, approval rate, and repayment behaviour each flow through to product-level profitability.

• Support pricing, limit strategy, and portfolio mix decisions with quantified scenario and sensitivity analysis.

• Understand loan accounting mechanics: interest accrual, fee recognition, repayment allocation waterfalls, write-offs, recoveries, restructuring, and overdue treatment.

• Own reconciliation logic and exception analysis between the lending management system, payment providers, and finance ledgers — identify root causes of mismatch and drive them to zero.

• Partner with Finance to ensure business reporting and financial reporting reconcile, and that revenue is recognised and collected accurately.

• Map end-to-end lending processes — acquisition, underwriting, disbursement, servicing, collections — and identify where cost, time, or leakage accumulates.

• Quantify the business case for automation and process redesign, then work with the relevant teams to deliver it.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in consumer lending or consumer credit — at a bank, finance company, digital lender, BNPL provider, or internet-finance platform. Direct lending domain experience is a hard requirement; adjacent fintech experience without credit exposure will not substitute.

• Strong, independent SQL capability. You extract and validate your own data as a matter of routine.

• Demonstrated understanding of consumer lending operational flows — application, underwriting and decisioning, limit assignment, disbursement, billing, repayment, delinquency and collections.

• Working command of lending product P&L structure — you can explain how a loan makes or loses money and what breaks it.

• Practical experience with accounting treatment of loans and with payment reconciliation — you have investigated real mismatches between systems and resolved them.

• Track record of proposals you originated that were implemented and produced measurable business results. Be prepared to walk through two of them in detail, including the numbers.

• Exceptional structured thinking. You can decompose an ambiguous business question into a defensible analytical approach and communicate the logic clearly.

• Strong written and verbal communication in English, including the ability to present to executive audiences and to work productively with Risk, Finance, Engineering, and Operations counterparts.

• Proven ability to run multiple workstreams concurrently without dropping commitments.
