Civil Draftsman

The Civil Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings, plans, and layouts for civil engineering and construction projects. The role involves converting engineering concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate drawings while ensuring compliance with project standards, codes, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed civil drawings, layouts, and construction plans using AutoCAD and other drafting software.
• Develop drawings for roads, buildings, infrastructure, drainage systems, utilities, and other civil works.
• Convert engineering sketches, survey data, and design concepts into accurate technical drawings.
• Prepare shop drawings, as-built drawings, and revisions based on project requirements.
• Coordinate with civil engineers, architects, project managers, and site teams.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.
• Incorporate design changes and modifications into existing drawings.
• Maintain drawing registers, document control records, and project files.
• Ensure drawings follow company standards, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Assist engineers with technical documentation and project submissions.
• Conduct site visits when required to collect measurements and verify existing conditions.
• Prepare material take-offs and quantity calculations from drawings.
• Support the construction team by providing updated drawings and technical information.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
• 2–8 years of experience as a Civil Draftsman in construction, infrastructure, or engineering projects.
• Strong experience with AutoCAD drafting.
• Experience with BIM software (Revit/Civil 3D) is an advantage.

Technical Skills

• AutoCAD (mandatory)
• Civil 3D / Revit (preferred)
• Preparation of shop drawings and as-built drawings
• Understanding of civil engineering drawings and construction details
• Knowledge of surveying concepts and measurements
• Basic knowledge of building codes and construction standards
• Microsoft Office applications
