Your key duties

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transport & Mobility Strategy Lead - Transport & Mobility to join our prestigious team in Dubai, UAE, to work on some of the world’s best and most complex projects.

• Lead and grow the Transport Strategy service line in the Middle East — developing a client pipeline, securing new commissions, and delivering high-quality advisory outputs across strategic transport planning, infrastructure investment appraisal, mobility strategy, and transport policy.
• Act as Project Director on a range of transport and mobility commissions beyond strategy, where necessary, maintaining client accountability and technical oversight throughout delivery.
• Drive business development across the full transport and mobility portfolio, taking ownership of client relationships from initial engagement through to repeat instruction, and actively contributing to bids, proposals, and market positioning.
• Provide strategic, high-value advice to public sector authorities, master developers, and private clients on transport-related challenges — positioning Buro Happold as the first-choice transport strategy partner in the region.
• Play a key role in the day-to-day leadership of the Dubai transport and mobility team — driving technical quality, supporting the professional growth of team members, and contributing to a high-performance culture across the wider Middle East practice.
• Take an active role in the commercial management of projects, including fee negotiation, programme oversight, and risk management, ensuring both client satisfaction and healthy project margins.
• Represent Buro Happold externally at client presentations, industry events, and with key authorities — serving as a credible and visible senior voice for transport and mobility in the region.
• Collaborate with Buro Happold's global Transport & Mobility network to bring international best practice and emerging mobility thinking into regional commissions and thought leadership outputs.

Your Skills And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Transport Planning or a related field.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in transport planning and mobility, with a strong specialism in Transport Advisory/Strategy — including strategic transport studies, mobility strategy, infrastructure investment, and policy advisory for government and private sector clients.
• Demonstrable experience winning and growing a Transport Strategy/Advisory portfolio — building client relationships, leading bids, and converting pipeline into secured commissions.
• Proven ability to serve as Project Director across a broader range of transport commissions, with a track record of successful delivery and repeat client engagement.
• Established network of relationships with government authorities, master developers, and public sector clients in the Middle East, with the credibility and seniority to open doors and sustain long-term partnerships.
• Strong commercial acumen — experienced in fee negotiation, project financials, and managing delivery to budget and programme.
• An inspirational and empowering team leader, with experience managing and mentoring multidisciplinary transport professionals and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Deep knowledge of future mobility trends, emerging transport technologies, and sustainable transport principles — and the ability to translate these into practical, client-facing outputs.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the gravitas to engage confidently at board and senior government level.
