Job Description

The Head of Logistics will lead and optimize all logistics, supply chain, and material management operations across multiple high‑value construction projects. This role is critical to ensuring seamless coordination between procurement, site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors—particularly within complex, fast‑paced environments involving luxury villas, high‑rise towers, and premium residential developments.

The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 10 years’ experience in logistics leadership within the construction or real estate contracting sector, with a proven track record supporting large‑scale, high‑specification projects

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement integrated logistics and PMV strategies to support project timelines, operational requirements, cost targets, and quality standards.
• Lead logistics and equipment planning for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring efficient movement of materials, machinery, vehicles, and resources.
• Establish KPIs and performance dashboards to monitor logistics efficiency, fleet utilization, equipment availability, maintenance costs, fuel consumption, and supplier performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize resource utilization.

Plant, Machinery & Vehicle (PMV) Management

• Oversee the planning, mobilization, allocation, utilization, and demobilization of all construction plants, machinery, equipment, and vehicles.
• Ensure optimum utilization and availability of heavy equipment.
• Coordinate PMV requirements with project teams to ensure machinery and vehicles are available in line with construction schedules.
• Monitor equipment utilization rates, downtime, productivity, and operating costs to maximize efficiency and profitability.
• Develop asset management and replacement strategies to optimize equipment life cycle and return on investment.
• Maintain accurate records for fleet utilization, maintenance, certifications, inspections, and statutory compliance.

Diesel & Fuel Management

• Oversee diesel procurement, storage, distribution, and consumption across all project sites and facilities.
• Implement fuel management systems and controls to monitor fuel usage, improve efficiency, and reduce losses.
• Ensure safe handling, transportation, and storage of diesel fuel in compliance with HSE and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor fuel inventory levels and coordinate supply activities to ensure uninterrupted PMV operations.
• Investigate and address fuel variances, wastage, and operational inefficiencies.
• Develop reporting systems for fuel consumption, fleet efficiency, and operating costs.

Equipment Maintenance Coordination

• Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance programs are effectively implemented.
• Monitor equipment availability and maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and disruptions to project activities.
• Support planning for major repairs, equipment replacement, and fleet expansion requirements.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturers’ recommendations and maintenance best practices.

Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination

• Manage relationships with suppliers, transport companies, fuel providers, equipment rental companies, and logistics service providers.
• Collaborate closely with procurement, engineering, project management, and site teams to align logistics and PMV resources with project schedules.
• Negotiate contracts and service agreements to secure competitive pricing, reliable service, and operational efficiency.
• Evaluate supplier and service provider performance against agreed KPIs.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure all logistics, fleet, PMV, and fuel management operations comply with local regulations, company policies, and HSE standards.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to transportation, plant operations, equipment availability, fuel supply, and material management.
• Implement robust asset tracking, documentation, reporting, and audit systems to ensure operational transparency and accountability.
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions related to fleet, equipment, or fuel operations.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop logistics, fleet, and PMV teams across multiple project locations.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Establish performance objectives and development plans for team members.
• Promote cross-functional collaboration between logistics, procurement, plant, and project teams.

Qualifications

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 18 years of experience in logistics, fleet, or PMV management within the construction industry.
• Proven experience supporting large-scale construction projects, including villas, high-rise buildings, and mixed-use developments.
• Strong knowledge of construction logistics, heavy equipment operations, fleet management, diesel fuel management, and supply chain best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale, multi-site logistics and PMV operations.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience controlling logistics, fleet, and operational costs.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Background with leading UAE/GCC construction and contracting companies.
