Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the assigned base’s Maintenance Operations activities (i.e. planning, scheduling, preventive maintenance, etc.) by providing cost-effective maintenance and repair services to the aircrafts and assets, ensuring proactive serviceability and availability of the customer’s aircrafts and equipment

1. 1. Under the direction of the Base Manager Operations, manages the implementation of the maintenance planning at the assigned base to ensure that repair and maintenance services are accomplished efficiently to the most productive and cost effective manner.
2. 2. Supports the Base Manager with the development of optimum maintenance planning targets covering maintenance efficiencies and availability at the base, ensuring reliability and performance improvement to improve the maintenance effectiveness and speed of service.
3. 3. Contributes to the development of maintenance schedules, and implements them as part of operation and maintenance planning to execute on time and scheduled maintenance in order to ensure that aircrafts are working to their optimum efficiency and capability.
4. 4. Supports the Base Manager in the coordination of maintenance planning activities in the base and interface with GAL Headquarters to align maintenance operations, maintenance scheduling short and long term, base capability communication and workload planning and management to ensure smooth functioning of the base’s activities and avoiding possible delays and maintenance failures
5. 5. Supports the Base Manager in managing the resolution of the operational day-to-day maintenance problems to ensure a highly efficient, effective and quality service is extended to customers’ aircrafts at the base.
6. 6. Ensures that all aircraft maintenance activities take place in an efficient, compliant and safe manner to ensure a high quality of maintenance operations at the base.
7. 7. Ensures that military aircraft maintenance services are continuously available to customers so that aircrafts are operational and ready to fly when required and at a level that meets the required standards.
8. 8. Develops preventative maintenance schedules to cover all relevant aircraft maintenance so that it is maintained in optimum working order and breakdowns are minimized.
9. 9. Monitors the usage of materials, spares and consumables to ensure that consumption is consistent with budgeted assumptions.
10. 10. Contributes towards the on-going review of the physical condition of the base operational assets to ensure that those assets are in a suitable condition to allow GAL to fulfil its strategic objectives and comply with any relevant legislation.
11. 11. Assists the Supply Chain function in the negotiations with contractors providing a clear statement of work and understanding
12. 12. Maintains relationships with third-party providers, through the Supply Chain function, of operational and maintenance personnel so that GAL is able to fulfill its operational service, safety, environmental and cost targets without unnecessary addition to the fixed overheads.
13. 13. Manages the achievement of objectives by setting individual goals and objectives, managing performance, developing staff and providing formal and informal feedback in order to maximize overall performance and engagement.
14. 14. Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Base Maintenance Operations section to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established policies, processes and procedures.
15. 15. Reviews all operational reports and takes any necessary corrective actions to ensure that all aircraft maintenance activities take place according to defined operational procedures and a timely service is delivered to customers.
16. 16. On an on-going basis, examines current operational processes to identify and implement potential operational improvements that will positively impact upon service, safety, environmental and cost performance
17. 17. Manages effectively the achievement of the objectives through assisting the Department Head in managing the maintenance operations – setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize the performance of the maintenance staffs
18. 18. Ensures compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Maintenance Operations at the Facility to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality aircraft maintenance service and a responsible environmental attitude
19. 19. Contributes towards the on-going review of the physical condition of the Facility operational assets to ensure that those assets are in a suitable condition to allow the company to fulfil its strategic objectives and comply with any relevant legislation
20. 20. Manages the implementation of operational business processes at the Facility which will facilitate the identification and consistent application of maintenance best practice and the realization of synergies across the maintenance operations at the Facility
21. 21. Recommends efficient budget planning and assist the Base Manager in monitoring financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs, and areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized
22. 22. Recommends improvements to the maintenance operations policy and manages the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of maintenance operations activity at the Facility, so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective maintenance service to the customer
23. 23. Develops and implements organizational and functional charts to establish lines of authority and specific Responsibilities.
24. 24. Sponsors opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect international best practices and changes in the competitive environment.
25. 25. Ensures direct reports adhere to and support all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls, promoting employee safety, legislative compliance and to promote a responsible environmental attitude.
26. 26. Implements the day-to-day operations assigned for the section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
27. 27. Prepares statements and reports, timely and accurately to meet GAL and departmental requirements, policies and standards.
28. 28. Prepares function statements and reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet the requirements of GAL and department policies and standards.
29. 29. Performs other related duties or assignments as directed
