Chef Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Chef to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares weekly schedule for their staff (special duties, cleaning, etc.) and ensures their grooming (i.e. hygiene, uniforms);
- Supervises the food display, ensures that food is properly stored, sets up the work stations and keeps it clean at all times;
- Supervises team members performance;
- Coaches , trains and motivates the team members to reach departmental goals;
- Works in compliance with the company operating standards and follows the Public Health and food safety procedures;
- Responsibility for the operation of a designated section of the kitchen;
- Maintain a clean cooking station;
- Train, guide and motivate pastry assistants;
- Perform food preparation tasks in the kitchen;
- Plan, implement and manage daily operations;
- Ensure that recipes and proportions are strictly adhered to, to ensure consistency, quality and cost control;
- Keep abreast with the latest food and industry trends;
- Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel;
- Monitor supplies and ingredients necessary for daily operations;
- Prepare menus.
Requirements:
- Valid passport (at least with 6 months validity before joining);
- Criminal record (mandatory prior embarkation schedule);
- At last 5 years’ experience in a similar managerial role in cruise line;
- Team management and conflicts resolutions;
- Good communication skills and customer care;
- Ability to work in a team;
- Multitasking and ability in handling a high quality and high volume of culinary operations;
- Fluent English, oral and written skills. Any additional language is considered an advantage;
- Great knowledge of HACCP, USPH and Sanitation standards;
- Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions;
- Menu Planning;
- Relevant qualification;
- Waste control;
- Ability to cater for 180 staff per day;
- Experience in Healthy Food, Main Item Food and pastries/desserts.
