Role Details: Senior/Principal Fullstack Software Engineer

Location: Dubai.
Open to candidates worldwide; relocation required.
Job Type: Full Time

About Us

At Laine, we're building the next generation of legal tooling— a cutting-edge AI product that turns complex drafting into a fast, guided, and secure experience. We blend thoughtful product design with modern engineering to help people and licensed lawyers work smarter, not harder. If you're excited by high-impact problems, a crisp product vision, and shipping real features used in the wild, you'll feel at home here.

Role Overview

We're looking for a product-minded, versatile Principal Software Engineer to design, build, and scale our AI-assisted legal drafting platform. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in our Dubai office, with administrative visa support. It requires relocation. You will take true fullstack ownership - spanning frontend interfaces, backend services, and AI integrations - using a modern TypeScript stack to ship delightful, secure features from end to end.

What You’ll Do

• Act as a product-minded engineer, influencing both the technical architecture and the product roadmap with pragmatic, user-first thinking.
• Take fullstack ownership of features, developing end-to-end user experiences from the React frontend down to the Node.js backend.
• Integrate LLMs and external AI services into robust, secure, and highly usable core features.
• Improve performance, scalability, observability, and security across the platform.
• Write clean, well-tested code; contribute to design docs and lead code reviews.
• Partner closely with product and design teams to understand the "why" behind the features you build.

What We’re Looking For

• A strong product mindset—you care just as much about solving the user’s problem as you do about the technical implementation.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping production systems.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript across the entire stack (Node.js and React/Next.js).
• Hands-on experience integrating AI/LLMs into production workflows.
• Strong understanding of API design and database modeling (SQL/NoSQL).
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP) and comfort with monitoring and debugging in production.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to thrive in a hybrid environment.
• Fluent in using AI as core to your development workflow.
• Fluency in English.

Nice to Have

• Experience in LegalTech, FinTech, or other compliance-sensitive domains.
• Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, RAG, or AI agents.
• Security-minded development (authn/z, secrets, least privilege).
• Event-driven design and queues/streams.
• Bachelors in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

How we work

• Hybrid work model centered around our Dubai hub, collaborating with teammates across several timezones
• Lightweight, pragmatic Agile; high ownership; strong product culture.

Benefits & Growth

• Hybrid work environment with flexible working hours.
• Join an early-stage start-up and have a direct impact on the product’s trajectory.
• Support for continuous learning and professional development.
