PE Teacher

Job Description Purpose of the Role

The PE Teacher at Smart Vision School is responsible for delivering high‑quality, engaging, and inclusive lessons that foster academic, social, and emotional development. The teacher will create a positive and nurturing classroom environment, adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of learners, and encourage curiosity and a love of learning. This role aligns with both the UK Teachers’ Standards and the KHDA Education Inspection Framework, ensuring excellence in teaching, safeguarding, wellbeing, inclusion, and student achievement. The teacher will also maintain effective communication with parents and colleagues and contribute to the broader SVS community.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver effective, well‑structured lessons that meet the needs of all students; use subject knowledge, pedagogical skills, and interpersonal abilities to inspire and motivate. Employ a variety of teaching strategies, including ICT and other new technologies, and adapt lessons for Students of Determination, ELL learners, and students with diverse abilities.
• Encourage students to become independent, confident, and lifelong learners; model best practice in academic integrity, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Assess and record student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback, setting and monitoring targets, and giving oral and written reports, references, and feedback for individuals or groups.
• Maintain accurate records of personal, social, and academic development.
• Establish and maintain clear, consistent behaviour expectations in line with school policies, promote respect, empathy, and inclusion, and take proactive measures to safeguard students.
• Support students’ emotional wellbeing and personal development through guidance and mentoring.
• Plan and prepare schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with the British National Curriculum; contribute to teaching materials, assessment methods, and embed UAE heritage, culture, and values within the curriculum.
• Maintain responsibility for specific subjects and cooperate with colleagues to maintain high‑quality provision.
• Engage in continuous professional development, reviewing teaching methods and effectiveness.
• Actively participate in departmental and whole‑school meetings; support and contribute to after‑school activities, community events, and school initiatives.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

• Essential: Relevant subject qualification and outstanding subject knowledge; minimum two years’ experience teaching in a school setting; strong understanding of assessment, differentiation, and inclusion; excellent command of English; knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and wellbeing requirements.
• Desirable: Experience in the UAE.
