Job Title: Accountant

Reports To: Finance Manager / Chief Accountant / Finance Director

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and statutory regulations. The role supports the organization's financial operations by providing timely and accurate financial information for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain financial records, ledgers, and journals.
• Record daily financial transactions accurately and timely.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
• Process invoices, payments, and expense claims.
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Monitor budgets and analyze variances.
• Prepare tax calculations, returns, and statutory filings as required.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and financial regulations.
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare payroll-related accounting entries when applicable.
• Generate financial reports and management reports.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance financial controls.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, CA, or equivalent (preferred).
• 2–5+ years of accounting experience (depending on seniority level).
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
