Waiter

Job Summary

We are seeking a professional and courteous Waiter to join a private household or luxury residence team. The successful candidate will deliver high standards of service for family members and guests, supporting dining, events and daily meal service. This role requires excellent attention to detail, a calm and flexible approach, strong communication skills and discretion when working in a private home environment.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service & Presentation

• Provide attentive, friendly and unobtrusive table service for breakfasts, lunches, dinners and special occasions, following the employer’s service standards and preferences.

• Set and clear tables to the household’s standards, ensuring correct placement of cutlery, crockery, glassware and napery; prepare for formal and informal service as required.

• Serve food and beverages with care and attention to presentation, including handling wine service, decanting and simple beverage preparation when required.

• Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly to requests and ensure guests have a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience.

• Assist with planning and executing household events, private dinners and entertaining, coordinating with chefs, butlers and other staff to ensure seamless service.

• Support mise en place for service periods, including plating, garnishing and arranging service stations as directed by the chef or head of staff.

• Help with basic food handling tasks, clearing and resetting tables between courses and managing service flow during multi-course meals.

Hygiene, Safety & Maintenance

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in dining areas, service stations and serviceware; ensure all items are cleaned, polished and stored correctly after use.

• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures when handling food and beverages; report any concerns about quality, allergies or contamination to the appropriate household team member.

• Monitor and report maintenance issues for dining equipment, tableware and service areas; assist with stock checks of service supplies and notify the employer when replenishment is required.

Communication & Discretion

• Work closely with household staff (chefs, housekeepers, butlers) to coordinate timely service and accommodate special requests, dietary requirements and guest preferences.

• Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times when interacting with family members, guests and household information.

• Provide clear handovers and communicate any guest feedback, incidents or service improvements to the employer or head of staff.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in fine dining, Hotels or private household service or a similar front-of-house role.

• Knowledge of table service techniques, basic wine service and fine dining etiquette; formal hospitality training is an advantage.

• Good command of English for day-to-day communication; additional languages are desirable.

• Right to work documentation and relevant background checks as required by the employer.
