Senior C# Backend Engineer

This is a remote position.

An international, product-led proptech and fintech business is scaling its fractional real estate division and is hiring Senior Backend Engineers to build and evolve customer-facing platforms. The products span both traditional fractional ownership through special-purpose vehicles and tokenised property ownership models, within a broader ecosystem of real estate transactions, mortgages and related digital services.

This is a high-ownership role for an engineer who can shape solutions, make sound technical decisions and carry meaningful deliverables from design through production. You will work in a fast-moving product environment where backend engineering is central to business growth and scale.

What You Will Do

• Design, build and operate scalable, high-performance backend services using C# and modern .NET.
  
• Own meaningful features and services end to end, from technical discovery and solution design through testing, deployment, observability and production support.
  
• Lead and contribute to design discussions across service-oriented, microservices and event-driven architectures.
  
• Evolve the platform and backend architecture to support product growth, reliability, security and long-term scale.
  
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs, asynchronous workflows, messaging and serverless components where appropriate.
  
• Diagnose complex technical issues and improve performance through profiling, caching, code review and proactive optimisation.
  
• Write high-quality unit and integration tests and help strengthen engineering quality practices.
  
• Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, QA and DevOps to deliver customer-facing solutions.
  
• Contribute to technical strategy, engineering standards and continuous improvement; mentor other engineers where required.

Requirements

• C# / .NET: Strong commercial backend engineering experience using C# and modern .NET, with sound command of architecture, code organisation, design patterns and debugging.
  
• Azure: Hands-on exposure to Azure services, ideally including Key Vault, App Configuration, queueing or messaging products, Azure AD B2C and serverless services.
  
• Azure DevOps / CI/CD: Experience working with Azure DevOps and automated build, test and deployment pipelines.
  
• Microservices / event-driven systems: Experience designing REST APIs and distributed services using microservices, asynchronous messaging, queues or event-driven patterns.
  
• Docker / Kubernetes: Practical experience containerising applications with Docker and deploying or operating workloads on Kubernetes.
  
• SQL / NoSQL: Strong database design and development experience across relational and non-relational data stores.
  
• Caching / performance: Experience applying caching strategies, profiling services and improving backend performance and scalability.
  
• Testing / observability: Strong unit and integration testing practices, with exposure to logging, monitoring, tracing and production observability tooling.
  
• Fintech, proptech, payments, digital assets, tokenisation or other regulated product environments.
  
• Additional programming languages such as Go or TypeScript, while remaining deeply hands-on in C#/.NET.
  
• AWS cloud-native experience alongside Azure.
  

This is a fully remote opportunity open to candidates based in Europe, Africa or the UAE, including Dubai. You must be able to be available for at least six hours with the UAE working day of 09:00–18:00. The environment is fast-paced and delivery-focused, with a strong expectation of ownership, accountability and proactive communication.
