MEP Electrical Engineer —
- The MEP Electrical Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, supervising, and commissioning electrical systems for building and infrastructure projects. The role ensures that electrical works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved designs, project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and review electrical systems for commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, and other building projects.
- Prepare and review electrical drawings, layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, structural, and architectural teams.
- Review electrical load calculations, cable sizing, voltage-drop calculations, short-circuit studies, and equipment selections.
- Supervise and monitor electrical installation activities at project sites.
- Ensure installation works comply with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and authority requirements.
- Inspect electrical materials, equipment, and workmanship to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical documentation.
- Monitor project progress and provide technical support to site teams.
- Conduct inspections, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Ensure proper installation and testing of power distribution, lighting, emergency power, earthing, lightning protection, and low-current systems.
- Assist with preparation of BOQs, material take-offs, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Identify design conflicts and coordinate MEP services using BIM/CAD platforms where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety requirements, local regulations, and international standards.
- Support project handover by reviewing as-built drawings, test reports, operation manuals, and commissioning documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Relevant professional engineering certification/license where applicable.
- Minimum [X] years of experience in MEP electrical engineering, building services, or construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Familiarity with relevant local and international electrical codes and standards.
- Experience with AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit MEP/BIM is an advantage.
