American Sign Language (ASL) AI Trainer
Remotedxb
Responsibilities
- Converse with AI models on real-world ASL communication scenarios and theoretical linguistics questions
- Verify linguistic accuracy and cultural appropriateness of model outputs
- Challenge models on ASL-to-English translation, classifier usage, and spatial grammar
- Capture reproducible error traces and document model failure modes
- Suggest improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics
Requirements
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Deep understanding of Deaf culture, visual linguistics, and ASL grammar/syntax
- Expertise in non-manual markers, fingerspelling, and regional variations
- Ability to provide clear, metacognitive communication and \"show your work\"
- Access to a secure computer and high-speed internet
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Studies, Sign Language Interpreting, Linguistics, or a related field
- RID certification
- Teaching experience or community interpreting projects
