Key Responsibilities (Curriculum Delivery)

• Teach mathematics aligned to AERO/Common Core standards.
• Deliver instruction in:
  • Number Sense
  • Fractions and Decimals
  • Ratios and Proportional Reasoning
  • Algebraic Thinking
  • Geometry
  • Statistics
  • Measurement
  • Problem Solving

Teaching Practice

• Use concrete, pictorial and abstract approaches where appropriate.
• Promote mathematical reasoning.
• Develop students' confidence and resilience.
• Encourage mathematical discussion.

Assessment

• Analyse student achievement data.
• Use formative assessment to inform teaching.
• Monitor progress towards attainment targets.
• Differentiate appropriately.

Classroom Environment

• Foster a positive and collaborative learning environment.
• Maintain high expectations.
• Implement effective classroom management.

Collaboration

• Plan collaboratively with Grade 6 teachers.
• Share best practice.
• Communicate regularly with parents.

Professional Responsibilities

• Participate in CPD.
• Contribute to school improvement initiatives.
• Maintain safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or Education.
• Teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching upper elementary or middle school mathematics preferred.
