Early Years Curriculum and Learning Resources Specialist
The Early Years Curriculum and Learning Resources Specialist supports the development, review, implementation, and continuous improvement of early childhood curricula, educational frameworks, learning resources, and formative assessment tools for nursery and KG settings. The role translates early learning standards and developmental principles into practical educational content, guidance materials, and high-quality learning resources. It also supports curriculum piloting, implementation monitoring, research, data analysis, and the professional guidance of educators to ensure that curricula and resources are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, engaging, and aligned with approved educational standards and best practices.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the development, review, and updating of early childhood curricula, learning standards, educational frameworks, and related policies.
- Translate developmental and learning standards into practical educational content, learning experiences, activities, and implementation guidance.
- Develop and review curriculum documents, educator guides, lesson-support materials, activity resources, and parent guidance materials.
- Design and evaluate printed, visual, sensory, digital, and interactive learning resources appropriate for nursery and KG settings.
- Ensure that curriculum content and learning resources support child-centred, play-based, exploratory, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate practice.
- Support the development of learning experiences across language, literacy, numeracy, physical development, social-emotional learning, creativity, communication, and exploration.
- Contribute to the development of formative assessment tools that support observation and monitoring of children’s learning, growth, and development.
- Support curriculum piloting and field testing in nursery and KG settings and collect feedback from educators, leaders, children, and relevant stakeholders.
- Analyse pilot results, implementation evidence, assessment data, and field feedback to recommend curriculum and resource improvements.
- Monitor the implementation and use of approved curricula and learning resources and identify areas requiring clarification, support, or revision.
- Provide technical guidance and professional support to educators and leaders on the effective use of curricula, educational guides, and learning resources.
- Participate in workshops, orientation sessions, and professional-development activities related to curriculum implementation.
- Conduct research and benchmarking on local, regional, and international early childhood curricula and learning-resource practices.
- Evaluate the suitability, quality, developmental appropriateness, cultural relevance, and educational value of proposed learning resources.
- Coordinate with designers, authors, publishers, technology providers, subject‐matter experts, and other partners involved in producing educational resources.
- Support the development and review of digital learning content, interactive media, educational applications, and multimedia resources.
- Ensure that curriculum and resource development reflects inclusion, child safeguarding, wellbeing, cultural identity, and accessibility requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, curriculum reviews, resource evaluations, presentations, recommendations, and implementation updates.
- Maintain accurate curriculum records, resource inventories, version controls, approvals, and supporting documentation.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as directed by the Section Head or Department Director.

Required Skills and Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of early childhood education and development within nursery and KG settings.

- Knowledge of curriculum design, curriculum mapping, learning standards, learning outcomes, and educational content development.
- Ability to develop and evaluate printed, digital, sensory, visual, and interactive learning resources.

- Knowledge of inclusive education and adapting curriculum and resources for diverse learning and developmental needs.

Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Curriculum Development, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or another closely related educational discipline.
- A master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field is preferred and an advantage.
- Recognized and related Professional Certifications in early education is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant professional experience in curriculum development, early childhood education, instructional design, learning-resource development, educational publishing, or a related field.
- Practical experience developing or implementing curricula and learning resources within nursery, KG, or early childhood education settings is strongly preferred.
- Experience developing educator guides, educational activities, assessment tools, digital resources, or interactive learning materials.
- Experience reviewing or evaluating curriculum content and educational resources for quality and developmental appropriateness.
- Experience supporting curriculum pilots, field implementation, educator training, or programme evaluation.
- Experience conducting educational research, benchmarking, and data-informed curriculum improvement.
- UAE or GCC education-sector experience is preferred.
Language Requirements
- Professional proficiency in Arabic and English, both written and spoken, is mandatory.
