Post-Doctoral Associate in the Center of Interacting with Urban Networks (CITIES)

The Center for Interacting Urban Networks (CITIES) at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking a Post‑doctoral associate to contribute to interdisciplinary research focused on the Mobility theme, a core area of the campus’s Excellence 2030 Strategic Framework: Urban Systems.

Responsibilities

• Undertake independent, high‑level scientific research.
• Publish and present results in high‑quality conferences and journals (at least two journal papers expected in the first year).
• Support the research group in planning projects and writing proposals, including leading at least one proposal during the year.
• Assist in the execution of new and ongoing proposals/projects to meet established deadlines.
• Prepare materials for classes, assist in teaching labs, lectures, office hours, and grading.
• Mentor and support students.

Qualifications

• PhD in engineering, computer science, urban science, applied mathematics, or a closely related field, obtained within the last five years.
• Experience in transportation research, specifically in urban science, is required.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Strong quantitative, computational, and data‑management skills.
• Scientific creativity and a solid mathematics background are essential and especially encouraged.

Required Experience

Collaboration with researchers across other CITIES themes (e.g., Fairness, Uncertainty) and the ability to contribute to a comprehensive understanding of urban systems.
