Summary

The Pediatric Vascular Surgery Consultant provides specialist diagnosis, surgical treatment, and long‑term management of congenital and acquired vascular disorders in neonates, infants, children, and adolescents. The role involves managing complex arterial, venous, and lymphatic conditions, vascular injuries, and vascular malformations using open, minimally invasive, and hybrid surgical techniques.

Education/Qualification

Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.

• Basic medical degree from recognized institution
• Post‑qualification certification
  • USA: American Board of Surgery (ABS)
  • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate in General Surgery (FRCSC)
  • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register in Surgery
  • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College in General Surgery (FRACP)

Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience post‑board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT) Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR Switzerland,
• Sub‑Specialties : Minimum of two (2) years of experience post‑sub‑specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification in United Kingdom (CESR) Portugal, Spain, or Italy.
• Sub‑Specialties : Minimum of four (4) years of experience after obtaining the sub‑specialty qualification in Portugal, Spain, or Italy.

License

• Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage congenital and acquired vascular disorders affecting neonates, infants, children, and adolescents
• Perform comprehensive vascular assessments and interpret diagnostic investigations including Doppler ultrasound, CT angiography, MR angiography, and other vascular imaging studies
• Perform open, endovascular, and hybrid procedures for arterial, venous, and lymphatic disorders
• Manage vascular malformations, aneurysms, vascular trauma, thrombosis, chronic venous disorders, and complex vascular anomalies
• Perform vascular reconstruction, bypass procedures, vessel repair, and other advanced vascular surgical techniques when indicated
• Provide emergency management of acute vascular injuries, bleeding, ischemia, and limb‑threatening conditions
• Develop individualized treatment plans considering the child’s growth, anatomy, long‑term function, and quality of life
• Provide preoperative assessment, perioperative management, and long‑term postoperative follow‑up
• Collaborate with pediatric surgeons, interventional radiologists, hematologists, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and other specialists within multidisciplinary vascular anomaly programs
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and develop comprehensive treatment strategies
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, operative reports, and patient records
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, research, and development of vascular surgery protocols
• Supervise and train residents, fellows, and junior medical staff
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, infection prevention protocols, and surgical best practices
