We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor to cut, stitch, alter, and finish garments according to approved designs, measurements, patterns, and quality standards. The candidate should have strong knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, sewing techniques, and finishing, with the ability to produce high-quality garments within the required timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and understand garment designs, patterns, measurements, and stitching instructions.
• Take accurate customer or production measurements as required.
• Cut fabrics according to approved patterns, measurements, and specifications.
• Stitch garments using industrial or domestic sewing machines and appropriate techniques.
• Perform alterations, adjustments, and repairs to achieve the required fit and finish.
• Handle different types of fabrics, including cotton, linen, silk, polyester, denim, wool, and blended materials.
• Ensure accurate stitching, seams, hems, zippers, buttons, pockets, collars, sleeves, and other garment details.
• Follow approved samples, patterns, and production specifications.
• Check finished garments for stitching quality, measurements, fitting, and overall appearance.
• Identify and correct defects, stitching errors, and fitting issues.
• Coordinate with fashion designers, pattern makers, production supervisors, and quality-control teams.
• Complete assigned garments according to production schedules and deadlines.
• Maintain proper use and care of sewing machines, tools, and equipment.
• Report machine issues, material shortages, or production problems to the supervisor.
• Minimize fabric wastage through accurate cutting and efficient production practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow workplace safety, quality, and production procedures.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• ITI, vocational training, tailoring certification, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience as a tailor in garment manufacturing, boutique, fashion, uniform, or alteration work.
• Strong knowledge of garment stitching and construction.
• Ability to work with different fabrics, patterns, and garment styles.
• Good understanding of measurements, fitting, cutting, and finishing.
• Ability to operate sewing machines safely and efficiently.
• Good attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a production team.
• Ability to meet production deadlines.

Technical Skills

Experience with the following will be an advantage:

• Single-needle sewing machine
• Overlock machine
• Flatlock machine
• Coverstitch machine
• Buttonhole and button-attachment machines
• Industrial sewing machines
• Garment pressing and finishing equipment
• Pattern-based cutting and stitching
• Garment alterations and fitting
